Inspiring students through educational travel experiences

Creating opportunities for Marin City students

Growth Circles is a nonprofit project of volunteers including students, teachers and parents who encourage low-income middle and high school students from Marin City, California to learn through educational travel.

Our mission is to inspire students to think bigger and achieve more by expanding their world outlook through travel experiences that encourage them to move out of their comfort zones and expand their "growth circles".

Expanding horizons

Led by community and school mentors, students explore destinations from New York City to Washington, D.C. to Houston, TX to Sacramento, CA on Growth Circles trips. The students pictured here learned about careers in high finance at the New York Stock Exchange and pathways to performing arts careers at Juilliard. They saw Amateur Night at the Apollo in Harlem, Frozen on Broadway, and sites including the Statue of Liberty, the top of the Empire State Building, the MET and the American Museum of Natural History. The trip gave several of our students their first opportunity to travel by airplane.

"It was an amazing experience to learn new things and to learn about my country. I can't express how fascinating it was to see the actual President's house and George Washington's house too.”
